Langebaan on South Africa’s West Coast provides a tranquil escape from the daily grind of Cape Town and offers the perfect destination for a weekend escape with the family, friends or one you love.

1. Unleash your wild side

Surrounding the Langebaan lagoon, the West Coast National Park is just waiting to be explored. Hike or drive through the wilderness, keeping a keen eye out for eland or ostriches, take some selfies down by the seaside or enjoy a relaxed day on the lagoon – with turquoise waters and white sand you will be forgiven for thinking you had stepped onto an island tropical paradise.

If you want to enjoy even more of the safari experience, Thali Thali Game Lodge, located just outside Langebaan, is home to a myriad of wildlife and offers game drives for day or overnight visitors. 3. Hike, bike and golf

Aside from the hiking trails found within the West Coast National Park and at Thali Thali, Langebaan is the perfect place for leisurely beach walks. For those who want to get out and about there is a mountain bike track at the Langebaan Country Estate as well as a number of running and cycling tracks, both on the estate and around Langebaan itself. The estate is also home to an 18-hole golf course, a mashie course and a driving range.

4. Wine her and dine her

The main street of Langebaan is jam-packed with a host of restaurants with different specials for every night of the week! Sip on a cocktail as you watch the sun go down and indulge in some local West Coast fish and chips as you bask in the gentle evening breeze. A number of magnificent wine farms, and even a craft brewery or two, can also be found within a half-an-hour drive of Langebaan in the Darling area – perfect for an afternoon of wine tasting and delicious cuisine.
